We started the day with a trip to the grocery store to get some snacks for the duration of the three weeks. I tried a tropical juice drink, but for the most part the store was stocked with a lot of American labels, and lots of produce. Next, onto the local coffee shop. I thought the coffee would be super great as Honduras is known for its coffee industry, but it was just the same as in the states. I don't think there are many local rosters, so the fact that the beans come from here does not matter much.

Now, to leave the mainland for Cayos Cachinos, a part of the Bay Islands. The two and a half hour boat ride provided a beautiful view and some upset stomachs. We arrived to the Turtle Bay Eco Resort, the only hotel/business/non-native establishment on the island, as it is a heavily protected eco-system. They are primarily a small dive resort and perfect for our three week stay. I am sharing a room with Olivia, Codee and Mei-Jing, with a balcony connecting to Grace, Sophia and Sonja's room. The four guys and two professors have rooms elsewhere. All I know is that there are two hammocks immediately out side my room and I love it.

Our first snorkel outing of the trip gave us a taste of what was to come. I did not realize the reefs were not much more than a feet away from shore. I do not yet have a camera, but have some shared with me from some fellow students. We stared to identify some of the species after we got out, keeping track of everything we have seen.

I feel asleep after a few swings on the hammock after a pretty great Monday.
